Swapping Pikes for Mumming Gear

The Attridge Traditional Group performing at the tribute to 1798 Now that the commemoration of '98 in the country is Finished, it would be a pity to lose such a worthwhile initiative by disbanding the pikemen/ pikewomen.  Many thousands of pike people all over Co. Wexford wound down their year long activities of proudly marching to the many historical venues in many parts of Ireland.

Their Commitment to Comóradh '98 and efforts to commemorate Wexford peoples' noble stand in the cause of democracy and freedom this year were commendable.  This community spirit and comradeship shown by them everywhere was remarkable and has proved beyond doubt that any worthwhile cause seeking universal support will be responded to if given favourable guidance.

The Wexford Mummers performing at the tribute 1798 at Aras Chronadh na GaeligeThis year for the second year in succession, Enniscorthy town hosts Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the greatest cultural and traditional music festival of our time.  It was secured by the town because if the strong efforts made by the people from all over Co. Wexford over many years and of the steadfast commitment to traditional  Irish music, song and dance by many people for generations.
