| Over the coming months the Fleadh committee
will be issuing Newsletters from now until August giving the public all relevant
information involving the fleadh, which will be held in Enniscorthy in 2000. The Fleadh includes competitions involving soloist's and groups
covering song, dance and storytelling. Aside from competitors, their families and
supporters, the Fleadh attracts Irish music lovers from all over. Most enthusiasts
will arrange their holidays to coincide with the event.
With this influx of tourists it is estimated that an amount
of £10-12 million will be spent in the county.
However it is the value in terms of exposure which is much
more important . The Fleadh captures the attention of all our National Media with
R.T.E. television providing over two hours of air time to the event. Added to this
is the coverage of foreign countries film crews.
In 1999, newspaper coverage ranged far& wide, from New
York to Karachi, while all national dailies gave it extensive coverage. |
